Welcome to Venice
Home to a vibrant surfing and skate culture, Venice maintains an edgy coolness that has long attracted the city’s free spirits.
With ocean exposure, a boardwalk that stretches over two miles, an endless parade of street performers, and classic Californian architecture, Venice is among the city’s hottest neighborhoods.
Venice was founded in the early 1900’s by a tobacco millionaire, Abbot Kinney. The area was originally a beach resort set on two miles of ocean front property. It was an independent city until 1926 when it merged with Los Angeles.
What To Expect
Bike rides along the beach, boardwalk culture, and premier surfing.
Venice locals enjoy the town’s creative atmosphere, tasty food, and of course, the shoreline. With perhaps the best waves on the southern California coast, Venice beaches draw ocean enthusiasts from every corner of the city.
The Lifestyle
Hip, hyperlocal, and beach-driven.
Venice’s reputation as a laid-back beach town is well-deserved. Its stylish locals appreciate and support the plentiful food, coffee, and fashion establishments scattered throughout town—places like Gjelina, Salt and Straw, and Blue Bottle Coffee have devoted fan bases.
Unexpected Appeal
Secluded side streets.
While the beach and boardwalk see their share of crowds, its residential streets sometimes provide a quiet respite.
The Market
A varied mix of newly developed apartment buildings and modern homes.
Homes for sale in Venice are predominantly modern and beautifully designed. Venice, CA's real estate options including lots tend to be smaller compared with other LA neighborhoods, spiking the beach town vibe with a surprisingly urban feel.

The Market Venice Restaurant
Located in the oldest buildings in Venice Beach, a new indoor-outdoor place. My fav dishes: Heirloom tomatoes with mozzarella and lemon, basic, squash blossoms, and craft cocktails.
Belles Beach House
The vibrancy and effortlessness of this urban surfer hub. Offering perfect waves, a bustling boardwalk, beautiful homes, and community sensibility, locals prize Venice as one of LA’s most vital beach communities. The hospitality group behind Elephanté just opened a Hawaiian tiki bar in Venice - Belles Beach House.
Belles Beach House debuted October 19, 2021 at 24 Windward Ave in Venice. Initial hours of operation: Mon–Wed 5–11pm; Thu 5pm–1am; Fri,Sat 5pm–2am; Sun 5pm-12pm.

Similar to Elephanté, Belles plays dual roles as both restaurant and late-night lounge. Beginning October 21, DJs will play a “jungle-inspired” mix of disco and tropical house Thursdays through Sundays.
From seasoned restaurateur Nick Mathers & Wish You Were Here Group, Belles Beach House aims to transport guests from Los Angeles to the Pacific Islands whilst staying in the heart of Venice Beach. Belles Beach House, a new resort-like restaurant with 'White Lotus' vibes, is now open under the iconic Venice sign. The venue boasts an impressive outdoor covered patio bar, indoor restaurant as well as an additional al fresco dining area. The menu features Hawaiian-inspired bites with Japanese influence, vibrant craft Tiki cocktails, and a thoughtful wine list.
"Drink and dine like a guest at the White Lotus with this "Hawaiian izakaya" modern tiki bar concept in the heart of Venice.
Located stone’s throw from both the Pacific Ocean and the Windward Avenue Venice sign, Belles Beach House is a resort-like restaurant and lounge that draws style inspiration from the '70s, as well as a mash-up of surfer and retro tiki bar culture. Chaise furniture and high-tops dot a space that's meant to serve as both a dinner spot and a late-night destination hangout for a seen-and-be-seen Westside crowd. A food menu with Hawaiian influences and a small sushi selection rounds out a dining concept channeling lobotomized modern-day nostalgia for a mid-century tropical getaway".
Gjusta
Gjusta is a California deli, bakery, café, and market created to serve fresh, seasonal food to Venice Beach community. Their menu, space, and offerings change as they go, evolving with the seasons and the needs of our neighborhood. Absolutely must to go!
Felix Trattoria
Felix’s Evan Funke makes some of the best pasta on the West Coast. Rolling in his cozy bungalow restaurant.
It’s still packed—so make a reservation before heading over, or brave your luck at the cozy bar stools near the entrance.
